The history of the bank. Difficult 90s

The activities of Alfa-Bank began in the 90s. This period was very difficult for the economies of the countries of the former Soviet Union. Many different structures appeared, trying to "win their place under the sun", but only the strongest survived. Alfa-Bank is one of the few banks that not only managed to stay afloat, but also actively developed and expanded.

The founders of the company carried out reforms that helped the bank to fully function in difficult economic conditions. The state needed commercial structures of this kind: loans were needed for the development of industry. Ordinary citizens were also not opposed to taking out a loan to purchase a home or a car.

The company received permits for financial activities in 1991. Almost immediately, the bank began issuing loans. Individuals, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, large companies and industrial enterprises willingly became clients of the enterprise.

The list of Alfa-Bank's services did not end with the issuance of loans. The company's management took an active part in investment programs. The company was engaged in trade financing and leasing.

Ups and downs

2003 was a significant year for the bank: the company topped the rating of the best financial institutions in Russia. Forbes magazine wrote that the level of customer service of Alfa-Bank complies with international standards. In 2005, Forbs stated that the company is developing rapidly and efficiently.

But 2004 was not very successful for the organization: about 20% of depositors who kept funds in deposit accounts took their "hard earned" money. The company was forced to take extreme measures and apply penalties to customers who prematurely terminated the contract (the penalty was 10% of the deposit amount). The panic arose because of the media, which spread negative information about Alfa-Bank. The company even filed a lawsuit against the editors of the Kommersant newspaper.
